PAC Days
For more than 30 Years REALTORS® have been strong advocates for government policy that encourages responsible homeownership.
I am thankful this year I was invited to take part in PAC days. During this time I will be able to:
• Learn about regulations that impact housing and share creative solutions
• Discuss local market trends seeing how it compares to other parts of Canada
• Understand the total impact housing has on the economy and how interest rates have shaped the market
• Ask for our voices to be heard on the hill with recommendations for a permanent national housing round table and proper leveraging of infrastructure funding
This year we had over 400 people to come to Ottawa to advocate for housing. It was powerful to have so many individuals come to share about the needs we are seeing in the housing industry. When meeting with the MP REALTORS® were able to make the following Recommendations:
Recommendation one: Permanent National Housing Roundtable
CREA recommends the establishment of a permanent national housing roundtable to bring together all stakeholders in the housing sphere and help address its challenges with an inclusive, holistic and innovative approach.
Recommendation Two: Leverage Infrastructure Funding
CREA recommends including clauses in Infrastructure Bilateral Agreements with provincial and territorial partners encouraging the creation of more housing supply.
