Keep Your Home Pet-Odor Free

You love your furry friends, but you may not always love the smells they bring into your home. Don’t worry about going nose-blind to strong odors, we’ve got some solutions to keep things fresh for you and your four-legged pals.

If your cat or dog sheds constantly, that could be contributing to smells in your home. The best way to cut down on this is to stay on top of vacuuming and getting into the nooks and crannies where pet hair could be hiding.

Your pets probably have some soft spots they love, so make sure all beds, sofa covers and other fabric surfaces are getting regularly washed, or the smell will seep into the threads before your nose knows what hit it.

If you’ve cleaned all surfaces where your pet likes to hang out but you still don’t know what’s causing that smell, make sure that there’s no pet paraphernalia that’s gone missing and is getting musty. Much loved toys that have found their way under couches or behind dressers could be the surprise source of some odd smells.

Anyone who knows how effective baking soda is in a fridge will tell you it’s great for neutralizing odors. A sprinkle of baking soda in a cat’s litterbox can be a great way to cut down odor, or spread some on the couch where your pet likes to curl up and then give it a good vacuum – you’ll notice the difference instantly.

If you’ve had your pets as part of the family for years, it could be that some smells are clinging to their daily use items and need to be taken to the curb. If all the scrubbing in the world won’t get the smell out, consider new pet dishes, beds and even leashes.
